Please introduce yourself briefly…
Mechanical and Material Engineer of EPF (Ecole Polytechnique Feminine), I work for more than 30 years in the domain of software companies at SAMTECH, ESI France, LMS Imagine, ESI Group in which I have held many different project management positions. Today, as the Director Scientific's deputy of ESI Group, I supervise a team of 12 engineers and 6 PhDs. I'm also in charge of the international chair program between ESI and CEU-UCH University, dedicated to real time control for the simulation of manufacturing process. Our main activities are research programs for customers and strong participation in European programs.
What you will talk about at this year’s FISITA World Congress?
The presentation will summarize the recent achievements made in the field of the Electric Vehicle. It tackles this bottleneck by leveraging optimal energy consumption and energy harvesting. It will focus on the virtual prototyping methodology, where a fully detailed virtual cabin for the Electric Vehicle has been developed.
What benefits will participants gain from your presentation?
The participants will discover a solution which could enable the driver to receive real-time alerts in the event that the car foresees an issue with the completion of the planned journey. The interface could then advise the driver on how to adjust the controls related to in-car comfort, for maximum driving range. Going further, the solution could advise an alternative journey depending on traffic and weather forecasts, all the while ensuring the driver and his passengers are aware of degraded driving conditions that could impact their safety

What challenges do these trends present?
The industrial market is deeply changing while new challenges appear for its players. Draconian regulations, disruptive technologies (Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Internet of Things...), strong competition, shorter time to market, constrain industrial players to be more demanding in terms of quality, reliability, safety and production deadlines. This complexity gets even bolder with the ever-changing expectations of end-users who are no longer looking for products but for outcomes (flight hours instead of engines, kilowatts of electricity instead of wind turbines, etc.) and by the need to embrace environmentally friendly manufacturing and production processes.
And what opportunities do these trends offer?
Virtual reality technologies and Cloud/Saas availability significantly increase the collaborative potential of ESI’s solutions, while drastically reducing acquisition and ownership costs for companies. By leveraging technologies such as big data, system modeling, machine learning, and the Internet of Things (IOT), ESI’s solutions can be integrated into an interactive, immersive, virtual decision-making space in real time.
