Please introduce yourself briefly…
I received my Master degree in control - and industrial engineering at Graz University of Technology in 2002.
I started my professional career at Magna and changed to AVL after some years. 2011 I moved to Virtual Vehicle Research Center and started the doctoral school on control engineering, finishing with the PhD in 2017 at Graz University of Technology. Since 2014 I am Manager engine controls at AVL Graz.
What you will talk about at this year’s FISITA World Congress?
The work presented results from the H2020 Project "IMPERIUM" that I was leading as coordinator. I present the challenges, potentials and benefits using predictive information on HD trucks. This considers static information from maps, online data like traffic and its impact on vehicle and powertrain.
What benefits will participants gain from your presentation?
Vehicle mass is a significant energy storage that must be considered and best maintained to improve fuel efficiency. The potential using electronic systems (routing, eHorizon) and related actions confirms a big potential whereas they are somehow counter-intuitive and it remains a challenge to convince drivers to execute efficiency measures.
Which trends do you consider as the most important for your domain of research and your geographical region and what challenges and opportunities do they present?
Independent from the propulsion concept and energy storage - a global view on vehicle and powertrain energy management of the connected vehicle will safe energy.
