Founded in 1992, USCAR is the collaborative automotive technology company for FCA US LLC, Ford Motor Company and General Motors.  Its goal is to further expand the technical knowledge of the US auto industry through collaborative research and development. Its main focus is to:

  • Create, support and direct US cooperative research and development to advance automotive technologies

  • Be responsive to the needs of our environment and society and include the appropriate public and private stakeholders


USCAR is composed of a number of specialised groups that focus on specific research areas. These research teams work to:

  • Accelerate technical development

  • Provide common solutions for the automotive supply base; common specs

  • Provide a critical mass for scaled solutions

  • Amplify our influence among other research organisations

  • Accomplish what no single company can do alone
