Ensure the finance function supports the commercial welfare of the organisation through efficient management of cash-flow, regular financial planning, reporting & analysis, upholding corporate financial controls, & meeting statutory requirements. At PMC, I established a new Head Office in Cambridge with a cost-effective finance team, appropriate policies & procedures, & financial system for recording transactions. This resulted in a low-cost solution within the budget specified & capable of expanding in the future.
Stretching plans and fact-based decision-making for a firm commercial footing
Ensuring the organisation is operating on a suitable & positive commercial footing by setting stretching plans, both strategic & operational. FPHC were required to bid into an NHS E-Auction to secure ongoing framework contracts. I modelled the gross margin contribution of the contracts we already had & created a duplicate model in which key parameters could be changed & outcomes compared quickly.
Transformation projects to achieve strategic goals
FedEx operated using central accounting functions & a geographically dispersed financial planning & analysis team. The team were responsible for providing monthly management reporting & analysis compared to budget & forecast. I developed a reporting system that could quickly generate standard reports, & drill-down to identify key issues. The system went live & immediately reduced the reporting & analysis process at month-end to 4 days.
