FISITA Foundation launches with initial pledge fund in excess of £100,000

22 October 2018

FISITA, the international federation for the automotive and mobility systems engineering profession, has established the FISITA Foundation in order to support the next generation of engineers progress their career opportunities within the industry.

Following a launch at the FISITA World Automotive Congress in Chennai, India, earlier this month, pledges to the Foundation already exceed £100,000. Funds will be used to support more opportunities for students and young engineers, including the unique FISITA Travel Bursary, that provides financial assistance with overseas work experience placements within the mobility systems engineering industry.

Paul Mascarenas, FISITA (UK) Ltd Chairman, is one of the Founding Donors. He said: “Announcing the launch of the FISITA Foundation marked a very special moment for me, since the Foundation was catalyzed during my term as FISITA President, with the goal of helping students and young engineers advance their education, and subsequent careers in the mobility industry. With the ever-increasing pace of technology and innovation, meeting the needs of society for safe, clean, reliable and affordable mobility solutions, provides some of the greatest opportunities for our engineering community.  Through the Foundation, FISITA will be better positioned to serve the needs of our next generation of engineers and I’m honored to be pledging my support as one of the Founding Donors.”

Chris Mason, FISITA CEO, said: “FISITA is a long-term supporter of career pathways within the automotive engineering industry - our new Foundation is a wonderful initiative which will support the next generation of automotive and mobility systems engineers.

“We are extremely grateful to all our donors, who have already helped to grow the Foundation’s fund; we now welcome further pledges to the FISITA Foundation which can be made online via the dedicated web pages.”

Quirin Anker (second from the right) from the Munich University of Applied Science, recently received a Travel Bursary. He explained: “Without the FISITA Travel Bursary, I wouldn’t have been able to cope with the costs. It helped me enormously to focus on studying and working at my placement. I am very thankful and greatly appreciate FISITA’s support of young engineers who travel abroad to gather valuable experiences.”
