FISITA has launched the Work Experience Programme - we are working with our Member Societies and Corporate Members in a collaborative way to assist students and aspiring engineers to enter the profession as work-ready as they can be.

In launching this initiative we have successfully confirmed initial placements with our Corporate Members. We are now looking to secure further placements before progressing the process to FISITA Member Societies and inviting placement applications from their student members, on an international basis.

This scheme forms the first important step in establishing the FISITA Work Experience Programme which will develop into a membership initiative that delivers value and member benefit over the long term.

Placements will vary in terms of timeframe and opportunity, in-line with the FISITA Corporate Member offering; in the first instance we ask that placements deliver ‘a positive and persuasive experience of a career pathway within the automotive mobility sector’.

The benefit is twofold – students are informed of opportunities that they may not have been aware of before and the Corporate Member is able to contact a wider international talent pool. The student gains invaluable experience in a fast paced and exciting industry whilst honing their skills in an environment before entering the profession full time and the host company can meet and work with students who have the potential to become future employees.

Students will be notified of each opportunity by their Member Society and we'll also promote it on our website and through our social media. We will also post each opportunity on our website and via the FISITA social media channels so keep an eye out regularly. Once you identify an opportunity that you are interested in simply follow the information provided which will guide you how to make your application.

If you are successful in securing a placement you can apply for a FISITA Travel Bursary to assist with some of the costs, chat about it with others in the Discussion Forum and update your professional profile - all these and more can be accessed through being a Friend for Life.
