We were looking forward to hosting the Student Opportunities Programme as part of FISITA PLUS at County Hall in London in early July. However, due to COVID 19, we couldn't hold the physical event this year and we moved the event along with the Student Opportunities Programme online. We delivered the programme virtually to students who participated from around the world, all with a passion for learning, interacting and engaging with the international mobility industry. Students were invited to apply and a group of excellent students were selected to take part.
The programme this year started with a Welcome session with Chris Mason, FISITA CEO. This gave Chris and the FISITA team the fantastic opportunity to engage with the students at the beginning of FISITA PLUS, which was delivered over four sessions throughout July, and inform them about which topics will be presented by the speakers and some aspirational career advice.
It also offered the students the chance to meet Chris (virtually!), ask questions about the event as well as the industry and engage with one another before the sessions started.
FISITA PLUS was delivered over four sessions, each Thursday throughout July. The students joined each session to learn from industry professionals and interqct with the international community. Replays of the sessions are linked below:
The FISITA PLUS Student Opportunities Programme final session was a Q&A with industry professionals Eduardo Uriarte (representing Yasmine Fage and Goggo), Nick Reed (Reed Mobility) and Chris Mason. This was a really engaging, in-depth session in which the students could discuss directly with the experts topics that were highlighted in their presentations and pose questions to them about the wider mobility industry.
Feedback from Industry Professionals:
"It has been a pleasure to be part of the session today. I very much enjoyed the conversation, different points of view, and smart questions. Thank you very much for giving us the opportunity to participate today."
Feedback from Students:
"I also appreciated seeing that it wasn't an entirely male dominated area of engineering, with several female speakers across the weeks."
Emelia de Luca - Coventry University, UK
"The topics seemed very interesting, and it was also a very good opportunity to network with new people from around the world"
Heidi Elmén - Turku University of Applied Sciences, Finland
"Connected Vehicle system , Energy and efficiency related content, Commercial Vehicle and its technical related concept made me think differently about my future career and study options."

We look forward to hosting the Student Opportunities Programme at FISITA PLUS 2021 and we will share information on how to apply and get involved later in the year.
