Together with Transport Canada and the city of Calgary, PIARC (World Road Association) is organising the XVI World Winter Service and Road Resilience Congress, which will be held 7-11 February 2022.
During the Congress several Foresight Sessions will be held, and PIARC are now seeking proposals for topics on these sessions.
In keeping with the slogan of the Congress, “Adapting to a Changing World”, and due to the ongoing health and economic impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, the XVI World Winter Service and Road Resilience Congress will be held in a digital format. Full technical details will be shared in coming months.

Key aspects of the XVI World Winter Service and Road Resilience Congress are:
The Congress will address winter service, as in previous editions, as well as road resilience (in all seasons). This is reflected in the 15 topics of the international call for papers.
English and French are official languages of the Congress. Congress organizers will make every effort to provide Spanish interpretation should there be sufficient registration of delegates who indicate Spanish as their preferred language.
The Congress will be of interest to practitioners, road authorities and operators, as well as experts and academia.

Foresight Sessions
The Foresight Sessions are high level 90 minutes virtual sessions, which aim to consolidate PIARC’s relationships with international and regional organizations. These sessions should address topical issues which are different from those dealt by PIARC Technical Committees and Task Forces, and are related to the themes of winter service or resilience.
These Foresight Sessions are organised jointly with your organisations, potentially others and with PIARC experts, and will benefit from the support of PIARC General Secretariat. For reference, you will find in Annex the title of the Foresight sessions of the 26th World Road Congress, which was held in Abu Dhabi in October 2019.
Please send your proposal(s) to PIARC General Secretariat, no later than 15 March 2021.

The topic proposed for the session, to described in a few lines,
International or regional organizations which you suggest PIARC should cooperate with for this session,
The name of the person who could be tasked with preparing this session as well as potential speakers and a potential chair for the session.
The final decision on Foresight Sessions will be made by PIARC in April 2021 and will be shared with you afterwards.
