Proper recognition of the traffic environment is necessary for safe urban driving of automated vehicles. In this presentation, we introduce our two efforts for this purpose. First, we describe the digital map-based recognition strategy of distant traffic signals using an onboard monocular camera. Next, we describe a technique for estimating lane lines in a snow-wet environment.
