The transport sector has changed dramatically in recent years and will continue to transform in the future. The drivers of these transformations can broadly be categorised into the following trends: demographic and social, economic, environmental, political, and technological. These drivers of change are not mutually exclusive they are working both independently and together to transform the transport sector and life more generally.

A range of technologies, services, and new business models are disrupting transport at a faster pace than ever before. New technologies and business models are changing the way that people and goods are being moved around our cities and towns. Navigating these changes effectively is important to maximise the potential benefits of more efficient, safer, and personalised transport services, and minimise the risks  such as increased congestion and inequalities. The Position Paper is focussed on the challenges, opportunities and potential solutions in the following five key areas:

  • Automotive

  • Aerospace

  • Advanced Air Mobility

  • Rail

  • Integrated Transport

Each area is explored in its own chapter in this report, leading to a summary and call to action.
