The pad variability in terms of geometrical features and friction material characteristics has always been one of the most important issues in the brake industry both for performance and NVH.
To hit the target of 100% end-of-line quality control Brembo has developed a fully automated control system able to check all the main geometrical tolerances and measure the elastic modulus of the friction material in a fast and reliable way.
An overview of the whole system is presented together with some preliminary data and statistical analysis over datasets with high and representative number of samples.
The system validation includes also some preliminary NVH dyno tests to check the correlation between elastic modulus and squeal occurrence.
