To investigate brake squeal, the Complex Eigenvalue Analysis (CEA) is used. The validation of the simulation models is done by comparing the dominating frequencies of a dyno test with the instabilities and/or the Operational Deflection Shapes (ODS). These frequency domain methods describe different system states in the time domain. The question is how these different states might differ due to non-linear effects. To investigate the differences in the time and frequency domain the model developed by Hamabe and expanded by Hoffman-Gaul will be used in the time and in the frequency domain. The describing complex eigenvectors are compared with the measurable physical analogies, to investigate how non-linear properties influence the results.
