As vehicle NVH improved in nowadays, more customers complain about brake grind noise. However its mechanism of generation and deterioration are not clearly identified yet, so it is difficult to improve fundamentally. This study aims to establish the mechanism of generation and deterioration of grind noise in terms of frictional source point of view. A 1/5 dynamometer and dedicated analysis tool and equipment was utilized to investigate mechanism of grind noise.
