Mr. Rainer Hoffman has worked in automotive safety throughout his career. After earning a degree in automotive engineering from Germany, Mr. Hoffman won a Fulbright Scholarship, He also works with Professor Albert King in the world-renowned Bioengineering Center at Wayne State University in Detroit.
After returning to Germany, he joined the "passive safety" research group at Porsche AG, where he was involved in many aspects of vehicle safety, including accident studies, occupant simulation, crash testing and safety engineering. And pioneered important new crash tests, such as the impact of lateral shock pole tests on instrument force measuring rods.
In his subsequent collaboration with ESI Group, Mr. Hoffman introduced new computer-aided engineering techniques such as airbag simulation, airbag folding and finite element virtual modeling to improve safety modeling.
As head of the simulation division at PARS (now Continental Safety Engineering), Mr. Hoffman led the development of the first product-side airbags and Safety systems for subcompact vehicles. In 1994 Mr. Hoffman founded EASi Engineering GmbH, which changed its name to Carhs GmbH in 2006.In January 2020 Mr. Hoffman joined Shanghai Digauto Automobile Technology Co., Ltd. as chief Strategy Officer of Autotech.
Mr. Hoffmann has written dozens of technical papers and obtained German and international patents in the field of automotive safety.
