FISITA, the international membership organisation for the automotive and mobility systems engineering profession, and the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) have collaborated to form a new Strategic Partnership that will help to promote new skills and standards among the global industry.
IMI is the professional body for individuals working in the motor industry and is transforming the automotive industry by setting, upholding and promoting professional standards - driving skills acquisition, establishing clearer career paths, and boosting public confidence. This new partnership with FISITA will help to diversify the support and opportunities offered to students and young engineers around the world.
Steve Nash, IMI CEO, said: “At the IMI, we are committed to developing this pipeline of engineering talent coming into the mobility industry. The IMI has developed a range of solutions to develop a skilled workforce and raise standards within the industry, so by collaborating with FISITA we aim to further this support and enrich the international engineering community.”
Kelly Williams, Director of Member Services at FISITA, said: “As the emerging technologies in the mobility systems sector mature, vehicle makers, start-ups and OEMs will be faced with a number of challenges. Chief among them is a deficit in the number of skilled engineers with the required knowledgebase and training to deliver these new technologies. FISITA is ready to tackle this challenge as we work with educational institutions, policymakers and manufacturers to meet the needs of our evolving mobility industry.
“Partnering with IMI will allow us to bolster initiatives such as Engineer 2030 and develop new workstreams to empower students and young engineers with the tools they need to flourish as we transition from the age of automotive into mobility.”
As the professional body for individuals working in the motor industry, IMI is the authoritative source of retail motor industry information, standards and qualifications. IMI plays a vital role in developing and maintaining a skilled, competent and professional workforce, able to keep pace with evolving automotive technologies and rapidly changing markets.
FISITA offers exclusive membership to global engineering societies and corporate organisations active within the mobility systems engineering industry. They can access an exclusive range of international technical events, knowledge sharing, committee activities and technical networking opportunities. For more information about joining FISITA see:
