FISITA announces Vice President appointments

28 February 2018

FISITA, the international membership organisation for the automotive and mobility systems engineering profession, today announces Dipl.-Ing. Christof Kerkhoff as VP Internal Relations and José Manuel Barrios as Deputy VP Internal Relations.

In this role, Christof joins FISITA’s Executive Board, adding industry knowledge and expertise through his position as Managing Director at VDI Society Automotive and Traffic Systems Technology. Christof studied Spatial Planning and Traffic Planning at the Technical University of Dortmund and has worked in academic posts at the Federal Highway Research Institute Bergisch-Gladbach and University of Applied Science Gelsenkirchen.

Christof said: "I am very pleased to transfer my experiences gained through the creation of the mobility society at VDI, to FISITA and their Member Societies in this position as VP Internal Relations. I look forward to working with the colleagues of the Committee, José Manuel Barrios and the FISITA HQ team.”

Deputy VP José Manuel Barrios works as Head of Innovation at IDIADA Automotive Technology SA and as Vice President for Members & Local Committees at STA, the Spanish Society of Automotive Engineers. José studied for a Master’s degree at Technical University of Engineering UPC in Barcelona, working in the areas of technological innovation, electric vehicles and integrated safety.

José said: “I am very excited about my new role at FISITA - everything I have learnt during the last 20 years within the automotive sector will be especially useful for this new role. The automotive and mobility systems sector will face a new paradigm: the automation of road transport, electrification and mobility as a service. I look forward to working with members and other organisations to promote successful cooperation within the industry.”

FISITA CEO Chris Mason said: “We are delighted to have made these two fantastic appointments, which will strengthen our Internal Relations Committee and the FISITA Executive Board. Christof and José bring a wealth of academic experience and industry knowledge and I am thrilled to welcome them to our international community.”

The Internal Relations Committee is overseen by the Executive Board to guide and manage FISITA's activities in the facilitation of active co-operation among all Member Societies and works to build links with other bodies concerned with the automotive and mobility systems engineering industry.
