International Federation of Automotive Engineering Societies

Placement: Williams F1, UK

"One of the FIA´s new rules for Formula 1 is that all teams can use a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) by 2009. During my placement I was asked to design test rigs for the KERS department and to help technicians build them. I worked in the design office and in the R&D laboratory. I had never used IDEAS software before and didn´t know how to create good drawings before this placement. I also learned how to select appropriate bearings and O-Rings and tolerance them correctly. During my stay in England I learned to be more sociable and to integrate into a new environment quickly.

This placement helped me to confirm my will to work in the automotive industry and particularly in motorsport."
