Introduction
The Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d'Ingénieurs des Techniques de l'Automobile (FISITA) was founded in Paris in 1948 with the purpose of bringing engineers from around the world together in a spirit of cooperation to share ideas and advance the technological development of the automobile.
FISITA is the umbrella organisation for the national automotive societies in 38 countries around the world. Our network of member societies represents more than 147,000 automotive engineers around the globe.
FISITA's mission is to help create efficient, affordable, safe and sustainable automotive transportation. We do this by providing a global forum for dialogue between engineers, industry, government, academia, environmental and standards organisations.
We are a non-profit, non-governmental organisation - controlled by the engineering profession and supported by the global automotive industry.
The biennial FISITA World Automotive Congress is recognised as the leading international forum for the exchange of knowledge in all areas of automotive technology, attracting thousands of engineers, scientists and executives. Our next congress takes place in Munich, Germany, from14-19 September 2008 and full details can be found here on our site.
Between congresses, we support the professional development of engineers by providing the latest technical information in the form of meetings, papers, on-line resources and the official FISITA magazine - ATZautotechnology.
FISITA is also committed to supporting the education and training of students and young engineers through initiatives such as the FISITA Student Congress and our Travel Bursary Programme.
Whatever your interest in automotive engineering, we look forward to being of service to you.
Dr. Akihiko Saito
FISITA President
