Spotlight on MANN+HUMMEL GMBH

MANN+HUMMEL is a development partner and original equipment supplier to the international automotive and mechanical engineering industries. The company was established in 1941 by Adolf Mann and Dr. Erich Hummel. The development and production of filter systems for cars was a cornerstone of its operations from the very start. Today the group's product portfolio includes air filter systems, intake manifold systems, liquid filter systems, cabin filters and cylinder head covers made of plastic with many integrated functions for the automotive industry, as well as filter elements for vehicle servicing and repair. The company's aftermarket brand MANN-FILTER is one of the strongest filter brands all over the world. For general engineering, process engineering and industrial manufacturing sectors the company's product range includes industrial filters, a series of products to reduce carbon emission levels in diesel engines, membrane filters for water filtration, filter systems and complete lines as well as units for conveying, dosing and drying of free flowing plastics.
The company spends around 4 per cent of its sales in R&D, for example in concepts, products and technologies to support e-mobility. Since the traditional engine will last for a while, MANN+HUMMEL continues optimizing solutions for gasoline and diesel engines. The company's focus is to contribute to the reduction of emissions and weight of vehicles. Therefore MANN+HUMMEL engineers are consistently working on solutions for new materials, e.g. on a bio base, for example bio-based plastics, and recycled materials.
German filtration specialists MANN+HUMMEL have taken major steps to increase their presence all over the world. In the last decade, the company strongly focused on closing strategic gaps in NAFTA and Asia by establishing new companies and production sites or extending existing plants in countries such as USA, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Bosnia, India, China and others. The opening of two new manufacturing plants in Jiading (Shanghai) and Jinan, China, and the groundbreaking for a second production site in Bawal, India - all in 2010 - illustrate the company's strong expansion strategy.
The € 2 billion company has 13,000 employees in 41 locations across the globe, approx. 30 of which include production. Further information about MANN+HUMMEL can be found under http://www.mann-hummel.com.
